Manchester City have been unfortunate in their pursuit of Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac, according to Sky Sports.

The 23-year- old looks set to join Arsenal in a deal which has a span of four years.

Manchester City are looking to bolster their defence over the summer, with Kolasinac looking like he would be a perfect fit. However the blues will now have to look for someone else to fit the bill.

The left-back has had an excellent season at Schalke, and peaked the interest of many different the clubs. The player had the likes of AC Milan, Everton and of course City looking to claim his signature.

Kolasinac is a free agent at the end of the season, and the player would be beneficial for any team.

City will now look to make better signings over the transfer window, in order to compete for the Premier League title next season, with fans of the club hoping to see some silverware.

The Bosnian would have been an ideal replacement for Gael Clichy and Aleksander Kolarov. He will now, should the deal be completed as expected, be in a Gunners shirt next year.
