Gianluigi Donnarumma has been labelled the heir to Gianligi Buffon’s throne ever since his league debut against Sassuolo in 2015, and Manchester City could be in line to snap him up this summer.
The 18-year-old is already a full Italian international and will surely take the #1 spot from Buffon once his time is up. But unlike his international career, his club career is still up in arms. The likes of Real Madrid and Trafford rivals, Manchester United have shown at interest in him.
In a recent report from The Daily Mail however they believe that City are ‘leading the race’ for the teenager, and that he would cost just £30m. City have had a huge problem in goal this season; initially Hart was shipped off to Torino for not being good with the ball at his feet, Bravo has had difficulties stopping the ball from going into the net and Caballero has been decent, but nothing special either.
Donnarumma has shown already that he is a star in the making, with an incredible showing in the Italian Super Cup, which AC Milan went on to win. The Sun have also reported that Donnarumma has already spoken to some of his close friends to tell them that he is ‘moving to the Premier League’. It also wasn’t too long ago that we reported Txiki and Pep’s plan to form the ‘most amazing’ transfer of the summer.
Although The Daily Mail believe the shot stopper would cost just £30m, if the deal does happen I think we can expect it to cost much more than that – £40-£50m at least.
