Manchester City intend to present the idea of a swap deal involving Eliaquim Mangala and Jose Gaya to Valencia in the hope of securing the services of the young Spaniard.

Left-back Gaya has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium for some weeks, and the Daily Star now believe City wish to seek further talks regarding the duo’s future in the coming weeks.

Alex Caparros/Getty Images SportGaya remains one of Guardiola’s targets at left-back as he is set to lose Gael Clichy – whose contract expires in June.

Not only does a move for the 21-year-old make sense on a financial aspect, but also with Eliaquim Mangala already on loan at Valencia, and the club unable to afford to sign the French defender City could offer the Spanish giants a remedy.

Gaya recently shrugged off speculation surrounding his future by reiterating he has a contract at the Mestalla until 2020.

The Spanish international is valued at nearly €30million, so any transfer is likely to involve cash if a player is included in the deal.

AS Monaco defender, Benjamin Mendy, is also on the club’s radar.
